ABOUT SENSEI OSCAR SILVERA
With over 40 years of martial arts experience, Sensei Oscar holds a 6th Dan in Shotokan Karate and black belt ranks in Aikido, Iaido, and Taekwondo. He has been teaching martial arts since 1985 in Lima, Peru, and has served martial arts students in Michigan since establishing his academy presence in the state.
His martial arts background includes training and study in Iaido, Aikido, Taekwondo, Judo, Kobudo, Krav Maga, Tai Chi, and Kickboxing, allowing him to offer students a practical and comprehensive approach to martial arts education.
Sensei Oscar is the founder of the Japanese Martial Arts Academy, LLC, established in Michigan in 2003, where he has continued developing students in a positive and respectful training environment.
He also serves as Hombu Cho and Chief Karate Instructor of the International Budo Ryokukai in Michigan. His ongoing technical development is guided by Katzumi Niikura, 8th Dan Karate and founder of the International Budo Ryokukai, and Peter Carbone, a Hanshi-level 9th Degree Kobujutsu weapons expert.
