Oscar Silvera, Sensei, is the passionate Chief Instructor and the visionary founder of Silvera Karate Jitsu, a martial arts school committed to guiding students on their path to self-improvement and personal growth.

With over 35 years of martial arts experience, Sensei Oscar Silvera is a seasoned martial artist whose dedication to the art of karate shines through in his role as chief instructor. His mastery of traditional martial arts is evident, holding an esteemed rank of 5th Dan in Shotokan Karate.

Sensei Silvera's martial arts journey commenced in 1984, leading him to explore a wide array of disciplines, including Iaido, Aikido, Taekwondo, Judo, Kudo, Kobudo, Krav Maga, Tai Chi, Kickboxing, Kung Fu, and more. This diverse training background has molded him into a well-rounded martial artist, offering a unique and holistic perspective on martial arts.

In 1996, Sensei Silvera founded the Japanese Martial Arts Academy, LLC in Michigan, establishing an inclusive and supportive environment for students of all ages and skill levels. His dojo is dedicated to instilling invaluable life skills, fostering discipline, and nurturing respect among its students.

Sensei Silvera's strength lies in his ability to connect various martial arts disciplines, identifying effective training methods that transcend individual styles. His deep understanding of each discipline makes him a valuable resource for martial artists seeking to enhance their skills and broaden their martial arts knowledge.

Through unwavering dedication and extensive experience, Sensei Silvera continually inspires and empowers students to achieve their goals, both in martial arts and life. Sensei Silvera is not only an accomplished martial artist but also a mentor and guide, committed to helping his students succeed in their martial arts journey and beyond.

Additionally, Oscar Silvera, Sensei, serves as the Dojo's Hombu Cho (Headquarters Director) and Chief Instructor in Karate of the International Budo Ryokukai in Michigan. He is a direct student of Katzumi Niikura, Sensei, an 8th Dan in Karate and a 5th Dan in Aikido, who is the founder of the International Budo Ryokukai.

Sensei Silvera's diverse training background and extensive experience have allowed him to offer valuable insights into the relationships between various martial arts and the effective training methods found in those arts. He holds notable ranks, including 5th Dan in Shotokan Karate, Black Belt Dans in Aikido, Iaido and Tae Kwon Do, showcasing his commitment to continuous growth and excellence in various martial arts disciplines.

Oscar Silvera, Sensei, has also been fortunate to train with distinguished Senseis in Lima, Peru, including Victor E. Torres, Hector E. Lizano, Mirian Lizano, Kiei Gibo, and Yasu Tanaka, among others.

His dedication to continuous learning is further demonstrated through his attendance at seminars led by world-renowned Martial Arts Instructors, including Masao Kagawa, Azuma Takashi, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Falah Kanani, Vince Morris, Akio Tamashiro, Scott Langley, Takeshi Kitagawa, Ali Hamie, and others.

One of his notable achievements was becoming the Japan Karate Shoto Federation Pan American 2010 Kata Champion (Gold Medal) and Kumite Champion (Silver Medal).
